Pregnancy Hack List

A nice hack-list always gives that ‘aha’ moment. I hope this one will for you!

  1. Nausea – Eat small portions of food throughout the day.
  2. Leg cramps – Curl your toes towards your face and stretch hard
  3. Too much weight gain – Do not eat for two. Double your nutrients but not your portions. Snack on fruits. Balance and limit your intake of starches.
  4. Unhealthy cravings – If you can, indulge only as much as you want at a time then keep off for a good while.
  5. Heart burns – A sip of cold milk. A tablespoon of Maalox or another suitable anti-acid (check with your doctor). Do not lie down flat, prop yourself a bit. Eat your dinner light and early so that by the time you go to bed a good amount of digestion has occurred. Avoid acidic foods and fruits in the evenings.
  6. Your bladder won’t empty fully – Sit in the toilet seat at different positions as you let out the urine. Lean forward, then lean sideways, then lean backwards, even stand if you must.
  7. Painful varicose veins after sex – Only have sex at night and sleep immediately 😊.
  8. Constipation – Drink plenty of fluids and water during the day. Eat plenty of fibre-rich foods and seeds. Avoid sweets (candy, chocolate and their cousins).
  9. Too sleepy – Just make time to sleep better during the first trimester, your body needs the extra rest. Take short naps when the craving strikes instead of a long duration of sleep at night only, because you will still feel sleepy when the bug bites! If you can afford it, sleep as much as you can. Take courage, during the second trimester and beyond the sleep bug will ease.
  10. Colic (yes, it is also called colic!) / painful gas / bloating – A tablespoon of Gaviscone, Flatameal or another suitable anti-flatulent (check you’re your doctor).
